During the COVID-19 pandemic, we donated over 2.7 million meals across the rural parts of Pakistan to alleviate the suffering of daily wage workers. Due to the scale of the pandemic, we assisted nonprofits in Iraqi refugee camps in providing hygiene kits to alleviate the spread of the coronavirus-19. According to the National Nutrition Survey, nearly 44% of all children in Pakistan have stunted growth.
Started during the COVID-19 pandemic, Paani has distributed over 2.7 million meals during 2020. However malnutrition is not a problem limited to the pandemic, but one that Pakistan has struggled against for decades. Our Food Relief program aims to provide families with enough food to last an entire month. Better nutrition leads to better health, which leads to better lives overall.
How Paani distributed food during the pandemic
Nonprofits choose to act when the rest of the world cannot. Our staff knew that daily wage workers in rural areas were starving and fathers were choosing to risk being infected with corona over watching their families starve. Following all WHO protocols, our staff ensured only one representative per household came and that 6 ft distance was maintained.
